I get first dibs back…lol). My P is so flawless and such a great shooter, I saw no reason to have both. I shoot my pistols and don’t like safe queens, so it was an easy choice. ZERO, absolute zero regrets buying a Prodigy. Learned the 2011 platform on it. The 3mm is our low-profile extension for the Staccato/Springfield Prodigy/Atlas/Infinity 9/38 2011 style magazine. Leaving in the factory spring and follower it will be a +1 on a 126, 140 and 170mm magazine. Although it will work on all 2011 magazines, its recommended as a low-profile pad for the 126 magazine to bump it from 17 to 18 rounds.

Most people won’t buy the prodigy if they own Staccatos. Stock mags seem to be one of the problems with the prodigy. I held and racked a prodigy in my local FFL and I thought it was smooth felt good in the hand.

I had 1 20 rd Prodigy mag that wouldn't drop free from my P, I had 1 17rd Prodigy mag that wouldn't engage the slide stop fully on my P. So I got rid of those 2. The other 6 or so mixed 17, 20rd Prodigy mags seem to be ok in my P, but I haven't shot the P all that much. Having said that, I have exactly zero issues with my P from day one, and it eats anything I feed it!!!I stick to 1911s. And when I want a double stack, it's a Sig classic P-series. Even the P226 feels downright svelte compared to the Prodigy. Edited to add: Springfield continues to list a weight for the 4.25" Prodigy as 32.5 oz. It's not - mine weighed 37 oz on a digital scale. It's not a light carry option.
